Resident Stipend
A resident stipend is provided to cover various expenses such as parking when rotating outside the hospital, meals, mileage and personal wellness. The resident stipend is taxable and is $3000/year (approximately $115/pay). In the final year of training, an additional $1250 is added to the stipend, making the total $4250. This is to assist with increased expenses routinely incurred during final training year. Wednesday didactics have lunch supplied every week also.
Educational Conferences
Residents may attend an educational conference for Continued Medical Education (CME) with reimbursement of up to $1,800 per year and 5 days per year. This money can also be used for other educational purposes. Additional reimbursement and days may be may be awarded for scholarly work or presentation of research. Our whole PGY1 class is allowed to go to FMX conference as their dedicated CME for that year.
Vacation Time
20 days’ vacation per contract year. An additional four days are given at a major holiday per the program’s discretion.
White Coats/Scrubs
Two white coats are provided in the first year of training. One additional white coat is provided in subsequent years. Residents will be reimbursed $150/yr for scrubs. Scrubs must be purchased at our system vendor, The Uniform Store, and be black in color. They may be any brand/style and OhioHealth logo embroidery is optional.
Educational Material
Residents have full access to the hospital library. Our library offers plenty of free subscriptions to various medical resources as well Qbanks (Board Vitals). As above residents can use allotted CME stipend for further study materials.
Health and Insurance
OhioHealth offers medical, dental and vision insurance as well as life and disability coverage.
Recreation Program/Fitness Center
An active recreation program is provided to all residents including intramural volleyball, basketball, softball, and racquetball. A fitness trail for walking is located on Riverside’s campus. Utilization of the McConnell Heart Health Center for physical fitness and other wellness activities is also available to residents free of charge. Residents can also get subsidized memberships to local YMCAs.
Inspire Program
Inspire is OhioHealth’s online recognition platform that provides our associates with an opportunity to recognize and be recognized for demonstrating our values. Recognition that is point-based can be redeemed for various awards.
Child Care Center
Bright Horizons day care center located on the Riverside campus is available for children 6 weeks to 6 years of age. Full-time and part-time enrollment plans are available. There is a fee for the day care center services. Riverside associates do receive a discount. Our practice has a lactation room available for nursing mothers and fridge space if needed.
Parental Leave
Birth mothers receive up to 9 weeks for vaginal delivery, 11 weeks for cesarean. Paternal or adoptive parents receive 3 weeks of leave.
Parking
Residents park directly next to our practice. Parking privileges are provided in a well-lit, secure lot, free of charge and also within walking distance to the hospital.
