Didactics
Our didactics template serves as a guide to enhance multiple robust curricula that our faculty lead. Residents are excused from the rotations to attend and have protected time during these hours. Webex is offered for those that need to be remote or are not able to attend in person.
GRAND ROUNDS – A wide variety of topics covered by experts in their field. Our faculty also give Core Lectures in Family Medicine to support residents with the
SCHOLARLY ACTIVITY/ POPULATION HEALTH – protected didactics for our residents to learn the structure and develop the required research projects during residency. Our residents get to attend multiple conferences nationally to present seminars on the research or curricula that they develop.
SPECIALTY LECTURES – We have a running rotation of Sports Medicine, Orthopedics, ENT, Pharmacy, Dermatology and IM combined geriatrics/psych lectures that
RESIDENT LEAD LECTURES – Residents will have designated lectures to cover including Journal Club, Root Cause Analysis and Case Presentations.
FLEX – This feature in our didactics structure has allowed time to integrate resident/faculty lead topics such as nutrition, addiction, medical Spanish, dermatology and DEI lectures.
CLASS BLOCK – serves as a time for each class to regroup and discuss topics pertaining to their PGY class. Practice management curriculum is an essential component and curriculum during PGY2/3 class block to prepare our residents for life after residency.
SIMULATION – Our simulation curriculum focuses of procedural competency in dermatology, MSK ultrasound guided injections and circumcision workshops. At Riverside we have a Center for Medical Education and Innovation where our residents are able to run trough a variety of simulation cases with standardized patients in a Virtual reality, In-situ or standard setting.
